Strategies for the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal cancer, the path of the doctor: the persistence of the doctor, Dr. Li Yu Chung, Jacky

Previous pagePreviousNCT06016738: OPERA-01 Research
Next articleHello doctor, my mother was diagnosed with late-stage stomach cancer in July. It had spread to the abdominal cavity, so she couldn't undergo gastric resection. Targeted therapy was not suitable after initial diagnosis, so chemotherapy was the only option. She started chemotherapy in mid-September with Oxaliplatin (Eloxatin) + Capecitabine (Xeloda). After her third round of chemotherapy in mid-November, she developed ascites on November 28th and had 8 liters of fluid drained. At the same time, cancer cells were discovered to have spread to the lymph nodes, abdominal cavity, pelvis, and bones. The doctor recommended switching to Irinotecan + Capecitabine (Xeloda). However, she was hospitalized on December 12th due to discomfort. After being given diuretics and expelling about 500ml, her condition improved, and she was discharged the next day. However, on the 16th, she was readmitted due to severe pain and remains hospitalized. She has vomited multiple times and has been unable to eat. The doctor requires her to be discharged before starting new chemotherapy drugs. Are there any other treatment options for my mother? Or what can be done to alleviate her symptoms? Thank you.Next
